9. What is the difference between a single-layer and a double-layer hammock?

A single-layer hammock has one layer of fabric and is lighter—ideal for lightweight backpacking. A double-layer hammock has two layers, offering more support and allowing you to insert a sleeping pad between the layers. However, we don’t recommend using a pad, as it compromises the comfort and function of a hammock.

The Dutchware Chameleon is a modular hammock designed by Thomas Restler (trail name “Dutch”). You can add components like a bug net, overcover, or other accessories. It’s one of the most versatile hammocks on the market and part of the top three brands alongside DreamHammock and Warbonnet.

11. Do I need an underquilt?

If you're sleeping in a hammock, an underquilt is definitely important. Even in summer, we use an underquilt because the temperature drop at night can be significant. It prevents heat loss from your body.

12. What suspension systems do you sell?

We offer whoopie slings, tree straps, beetle buckles, and other Dutchware hardware. Each system has its pros and cons—feel free to ask us for advice.
